Amongst Cuckney House’s grand and impressive rooms and landscaped gardens there’s everything one could possibly dream of for a magical big day.

The panelled ballroom provides an elegant setting for the wedding breakfast and the all-important first dance, while the stunning Walled Garden can be transformed with fairy lights and fire pits into an al fresco setting like no other. Plus within its five acres of grounds, there’s countless hidden corners for romantic and treasured wedding photographs.

Couples have the choice of having the licenced service in either the ballroom, the dining room, or the stunning Edwardian garden pavilion. For couples who prefer a church wedding, the 12th-century local parish church is just five minutes’ walk from the House, and the Welbeck team can make introductions with the vicar.

Then, for guests staying the night, Cuckney House sleeps up to 38 guests across its 15 bedrooms, with a spectacular bridal suite for the happy couple, and more than enough space for extended family and friends.

Any sore heads the following morning can be nursed in the huge kitchen with coffee and Bloody Marys, while the younger members of the wedding party will enjoy the tennis court, giant garden chess set, outdoor table tennis, and games room. The Welbeck Estate offers eight other holiday cottages across the estate which can be rented by guests.

Cuckney House opened in 2023 following a complete refurbishment and redesign from Northern Design Award winner Rachel McLane. It now has a classic, timeless style that shines a light on the grand proportions and original architectural features. The Welbeck Estate’s Dukes of Portland have always been major benefactors of the art world, and walls are adorned with art that reflects the history of the Estate, whether of prize-winning racehorses or much-loved family dogs. Similarly, pieces from artists working in the Harley Foundation studios on the Estate are featured, including ceramist Kyra Cane.

A two-night midweek package costs from £10,000, or a two-night weekend package costs from £13,000, based on 38 guests. Additional nights can be priced at £3,500. For couples seeking to keep the wedding as local as possible, there are a range of epicurean treats on the Welbeck Estate. There’s Welbeck Abbey Brewery, DropWorks Distillery, the UK’s largest rum distillery which offers tours, tastings and cocktail classes, the award-winning Welbeck Farm Shop, the walled kitchen garden, the Welbeck Bakehouse and the dairy that makes award-winning Stichelton Cheese.
